Thread: Tom Atencio On Dana White: "Lets Do It"

He jumped at the opportunity to fight Tito Ortiz. Dana has the stones, that's not in question. Ortiz failed to show for their scheduled fight. Atencio is a 155 pounder. The commission would never allow the fight and if they did, we may see the UFC's first death inside the cage. Atencio is a very low level fighter. Have you seen his fight tape? From all accounts of people who actually know, Dana is pretty damn tough!

Your Mayweather example holds no water. First of all, it was Mayweather who was claiming to be able to KO Chuck Liddell and second of all, both Mayweather and Sherk are professional fighters, so it makes sense to seek a fight between the two of them.

Atencio has as much chance of beating Dana White, as you have of beating me.

LOL. I wouldn't say he jumped at the chance to fight Tito - I don't remember Tito's side the story entirely, but he wanted a contract and regular pay for the fight and Dana was offering something less.

Dana played that up with the weigh in, it was obvious at that point that Tito didn't agree to the terms. Perhaps for the same reason that Dana won't fight Tom; a poor performance will make him look bad.

and it was sparring for 3 rounds, perhaps with a headgear. Not exactly a "fight" and a little ironic since he wants boxers to do MMA when they square off against his guys.

Dana should say he'll fight him if you feel he's a lock to win. Dana's not that tall, I'm sure he can drop to 180 or less. would be natural if he trained to go for 15 minutes

Anderson Silva wanted to box and instead Dana says no as wants boxers to do MMA.

also, would you expect someone to call you out for a job that pays much less than you make? That part also doesn't make sense, Dana needed to come up with a $20m offer that night (and probably should have offered to give Sherk a few thousand more too)
Adolf, explain to me why that is different than Dana sitting ringside at a Mayweather fight with Sherk? I think he was offering Mayweather 1/20th of what he had just been paid (and Sherk was making 1/500th in his defenses of what Mayweather was getting!)

That was a business move meant to call out a boxer and get the attention of boxing fans.

If Dana was like any other President, I'd think it was uncalled for. But he plays the tough guy routine, brags about himself, puts down fighters and Affliction. I was wondering months ago why Tom didn't do this.

Remember he said Fedor sucks and that he'd fight Arona. He should jump on this opportunity.
no fu*king sh*t, if Dana fu*kin White fu*king has the fu*kin balls to talk some fu*kin sh*t about Fedor fu*kin emelianenko and fu*kin Ricardo fu*kin Arona, he should fu*kin get his as* in the cage with Tom fu*kin tshirt guy Attencio.

When Dana said Fedor sucks, he meant relatively speaking. of course he knows he is a very good fighter . He was speaking in the context of against the world's elite heavies. Since then, Fedor has had a nice 2 fight run and Dana has conceded that Fedor is pretty damn good but he'd like to see him fight the best competition in the world inside the UFC. He wants Fedor to prove it. He's not acting like he can beat Fedor. I don't recall the incident concerning Arona. And about Atencio, Dana would rip his fucking head off and that's the bottom line.

Claudale, Dana stepped up, plain and simple. He called Tito's bluff and Tito dick tucked. Tito demanded a fight against Dana in the renewal of his contract. There was no monetary compensation required because Tito just wanted an opportunity to kick Dana's ass. When Dana accepted, Tito had to face the very realistic possibility that he may lose or not perform well. He couldn't take that chance and thus demanded a producers credit, or something like that. I believe he also wanted to have proceeds donated to certain charities, all issues that were never brought up at the time of Ortiz make the fight a clause in the contract. He used those excuses to avoid having to fight Dana White. That one's on Tito, not Mr. White.

As far as Dana offering PBF 2 mil instead of 20 mil for a fight, that's what the company can afford and still turn a profit. PBF declined but it was worth a shot IMO. Atencio is no one. He is a pimple on Dana White's ass. Dana has no interest in bringing t shirt guy into the spot light by beating his ass. Dana will simply allow Atencio to go out of business and have no relevance in the very near future. And that Claudale is how you deal with annoying little twirps who want to fight you in order to gain fame off of your popularity.

You guys must think Dana is the business of making Affliction rich if you think he should even acknowledge this.

Yes, but Dana could have ignored him all along instead of calling him names.

Adolf, if this fight would be that easy for Dana I would think he'd take it. He loves being the tough guy and he's always surrounded by fighters, this would give us something concrete.

I'm not sure how he's convinced you he can go in and beat any fighter. He's got size on him; CAP had size on you and you were willing to roll and do judo with him, right?

I don't know how hard Dana trains but with no fight history, I wouldn't assume he could finish anyone off and I wouldn't assume he could last 15 minutes at anything.

Claudale I'm in MMA gyms regularly. I attend UFC events. I have Friends who are in the fight game. Along the way I hear things and what I've heard is that Dana is a legitimate bad ass. Hell, once I shook his hand and I felt his grip. The guy is no joke, he'd bring you to your knees with one squeeze. Also, lets keep in mind that he's been taking Jiu Jitsu classes for years now. That and the boxing experience, and you have a guy who although may not have fought officially, can indeed kick some ass.

And please Claudale, don't insult me with CAP comparisons. If he was afraid of you and thecobra, (granted thecobra can throw down) he would wet himself if he were to find himself om a mat against me.

Although you never made it out East (despite all the hoopla) I think CAP made it clear he didn't want to roll around with you. He said he was concerned about rolling around with a guy who takes viagra every day, but I think he was also worried about getting thrown hard.

I'm sure Dana is pretty tough, but taking bjj classes and having boxed in the past (without any footage I know of) would be like me saying any D1 wrestler would win in an mma fight without waiting to see them prove themselves first.

Dana would love to feed his ego with this win, he should go for it (of course if he lost, it would backfire big time and it would certainly give Affliction lots of publicity)
