If you were in charge, and you felt your best friend was endangering his health out of pride, would you let him keep fighting? I know I'd at least struggle with it, and I'd feel like a piece of sh!t if I let him keep going because I was just too afraid to tell him "no".

What about if you had a brother who was hooked on drugs? How long do you keep giving him money when he asks for it, knowing what he's doing to himself and his family? It's not an exact analogy, but I think it's decently close.

Dana did the right thing. I believe in that 100% My respect for the man has grown over this issue. Zapp with another very good argument. Kudos
    Lets go Brent!

It isn't Dana's decision to make, so I would never bash him for not making it. I can certainly understand him not wanting to see Chuck take any more abuse, but at the end of the day, it isn't his call. Hackleman certainly knows Chuck, and his physical and mental health situations better than Dana, and he is still not sure if Chuck should quit. Does Dana being UFC Don give him veto power over Chuck and his trainer? Dana's decision will be final in the UFC, but if Chuck wants to keep going for a couple more fights, I hope he does so elsewhere (personally, I don't really care one way or the other.)

Danas so noble, odd though that he keeps letting an old man like Mark Coleman fight.

Anyway the issue isnt about whether he wants to see chuck hurt or not. The point is he has to try to be the center of attention and steal chucks moment. Bottom line this is chucks decision to announce his retirement not danas. There is an athletic commission and doctors who will evaluate chucks health and determine whether it is a dangerous move for chuck to keep fighting.

Its danas decision if he wants to let chuck fight in the ufc. If he doesnt want to see his friend get hurt, and his friend wont go along with danas retirement announcement then he should let chuck leave the company.

Dana even said in his quote that, at the end of the day, if Chuck insisted on fighting outside the UFC: "?F--king right I wouldn?t,? said White, though he later added, ?at the end of the day, if that?s what he wanted to do, I mean, what am I going to do? I?m not his f--king father. I can?t tell him, ?No, you f--king can?t.?? " In essence, he's just saying he won't be a part of helping his friend wreck his physical health.

Dana gave Coleman one fight after he hadn't fought in close to 3 years. Lots of recovery time, nowhere near the abuse Chuck has taken. Chuck has been brutally knocked out 3 times in the last 2 years, twice consecutively. Big time difference.

Dana also said that if Chuck doesnt retire he will make it a war. He is talking about of both sides of his mouth but there is nothing of substance to back up the quote that you posted.

Coleman is 44, doesnt have a place to train at and is fighting again in July after putting on a miserable performance against Shogun.

Miserable efforts are put in all the time. But I wasn't worried about Coleman's health in the fight. To me it looks like Dana is talking big, but saying that if his friend insists on fighting, he'll let him go somewhere else, but not on a UFC card.

His effort was fine, he was trying hard but he was an old old man who was terrible out of shape and looked like he could barely stand. Because he could barely stand he had his block knocked off. The athletic commission made coleman meet with them to explain hwo he was going to be better prepared so that a repeat performance does not happen again. They gave him a one fight license rather than the typical year license.

I cant see Dana letting Chuck go fight for affliction or strikeforce.
