Vitor Belfort vs. Luke Rockhold: Head-to-Toe Breakdown
To be sitting at No. 3 in the UFC's official middleweight ranking is a remarkable turnaround for Vitor Belfort. His first-round KO loss at the foot of Anderson Silva two years ago was what many thought would be the last chance the former UFC light heavyweight champion would ever have to hold a title again.
But here we are and the Brazilian is standing on the precipice of being considered once more a No. 1 contender. Belfort's second-round TKO of Michael Bisping in January, in a match he came in as the second favourite, was a sublime demonstration of what a dangerous fighter he still is after 17 years as a professional.
In front of him is Strikeforce's last 185-pound champion, Luke Rockhold. American Kickboxing Academy (AKA)-trained Rockhold hasn't been defeated since 2007, and although he hasn't been tested as much as Belfort over in Strikeforce, he has demonstrated a remarkably well-rounded MMA game.
The two fighters are set to face each other in May at UFC on FX 8 in May. The event will take place in Belfort's home country of Brazil.
Here's how the two break down.
