The main event on the UFC 125 card was a lightweight title fight between the champion Frankie Edgar and the only man to have ever beaten him Gray Maynard.

The fight went the full five round and ended in a draw with Edgar retaining his title.

Edgar overcame a first round where he was positively brutalized by Maynard.

The result all hinged on how the first and fifth rounds were scored. The first round was clearly dominated in every way by Maynard and could have very easily been a 10-8 round. The last round could have gone either way.

The result of this fight leaves a question as to what will happen next in the lightweight division. The winner of this fight was to fight WEC champion Anthony Pettis in a unification bout, but since there was no winner in this fight, the unification bout could be up in the air.
