Seattle Seahawks' Deon Butler Fractures His Leg in Sunday's Loss (Video)
http://www.thewrestlingtalk.com/images/pixel.gifIn Sunday's blowout loss to the 49ers, Seahawks second-year starting wide receiver Deon Butler fractured his leg making a touchdown catch in the fourth quarter. Butler, a third-round pick out of Penn State in 2009, was just getting comfortable is his role as a starter after replacing the departed Deion Branch. He will miss the rest of the season.
The play looked nasty on the field and appeared to be a compound fracture. Teammate Ruvell Martin said there appeared to be something sticking out of his leg, and 49ers coach Mike Singletary felt compelled to visit the young man because of the concern over the seriousness.
It is reportedly going to require surgery and will strike a large blow in a Seahawks offense that is fighting to help its team secure a playoff spot out of the NFC West. Unfortunately this could wind up being a major setback in what was starting to look like a promising start to his career.
Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Butler was "unbelievably courageous and tough about it on the field," but did not comment on the actual severity or what it meant to his team's offense.
