Wow.

Who the hell was that guy?

I acknowledged that I was probably snowed by bias in picking Doomsday to beat Alves, but I'm not sure even his most ardent supporters would've predicted that performance from the Brazilian. Good grief, he just spent 15 minutes butchering a tough-as-nails John Howard with vicious leg kicks and equally surgical left-right combinations. He even mixed in some knees for good measure.

Give John Howard credit for being a worthy foil in the early leader for Fight of the Night; Doomsday got LIT UP repeatedly, but either kept coming forward or sprung back to his feet (as he did in the third).

Nevertheless, the story here is Thiago Alves. Crazy 15 minutes from him; the welterweight division gets that much deeper.

Thiago Alves defeats John Howard by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
