UFC 124: Dana White Says Pay-Per-View Will Do "Record Business"
UFC 124: When Dana White talks, people usually listen.
And the UFC president has said that he expects UFC 124 to do "record business."
At the pay-per-view's press conference yesterday, White said that Montreal's Bell Centre will be packed with more than 23,000 fans and rake in more than $5 million at the gate.
The current records for a UFC event are UFC 66 in Las Vegas ($5,397,300 at the gate) and UFC 97 in Montreal (21,451 in attendance).
White noted the popularity of Georges St. Pierre as "the most famous athlete ever to come out of Canada" as well as previous gate totals in Montreal as the main reasons why this will be a record-breaking pay-per-view event.
But UFC 124 won't come anywhere close to the worldwide record for attendance at an MMA event.
A 2002 PRIDE fighting event in Tokyo drew morethan 91,000 fans.
