Matt Brown Cut As the UFC Continues Trimming Its Roster
Matt "The Immortal" Brown has been cut by the UFC following his third straight loss. Brown's release was first reported on ESPN's MMA Live.
Brown became part of three and out club after losing to Brian Foster at UFC 123. Foster used a guillotine choke to end the fight at the 2:11 mark of the second round.
Brown had also lost his two previous bouts via submission. Falling to Chris Lytle at UFC 116 and Ricardo Almeida at UFC 111.
UFC president Dana White has been using three consecutive losses in the Octagon as a the guideline of who stays and who goes as of late.
Other fighters that have been cut recently under the three losses and you're out program include, Nick Osipczak, Goran Reljic, and Peter Sobotta.
Some other fighters, Gabriel Gonzaga, Gerald Harris, Karo Parisyan were recently cut with two consecutive losses or less.
The the WEC/UFC merger beginning in January 2011, expect to see more paring of the rosters.
The UFC has two events scheduled before the end of 2010, while the WEC has one.
