Seth "Kimbo Killer" Petruzelli Released From The UFC
Seth Petruzelli, best known for his 14-second of destruction of Kimbo Slice back in October 2008, has been released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship after dropping his last two fights with the promotion.
His most recent defeat came at the hands of Karlos Vemola at UFC 122 on Nov. 13. Vermola took the fight via technical knockout at the 3:46 mark of the first round.
Petruzelli was in his second stint with the UFC. He first left the organization in 2007 after going 0-2 in his with the organization. He returned to the UFC in July 2010 after posting a record of 4-0 with other mixed martial arts promotions.
Included in that 4-0 record was his fight with Kimbo Slice. Petruzelli stepped into the fight on very short notice, taking the place of MMA veteran Ken Shamrock, who was medically disqualified due to a training injury.
The two fighters agreed to the fight hours before stepping into the cage. Petruzelli went on to dominate the much bigger Slice totally, winning via technical knockout.
Petruzelli's other victory over a "name" opponent was a 2004 decision win over Dan Severn.
Petruzelli leaves the UFC with a record of 0-4 and an overall MMA record of 12-6.
