Well I created a new album with pictures from my 2003 & 2005 journeys to folk-wrestling events in more civilized

parts of Europe.
It shows
Ranggeln (Ger. “to wrestle”, etymologically related to En. “to wrangle”), a folkstyle in some areas in the Alps: in the Austrian federal districts of Salzburg and Tyrol, in South Tyrol (= North Italy) and in Upper Bavaria (Germany).
No circumcision, no oil..., the Rangglers are even dressed.
The matches are very impressive not only because of the nice throws, but also because of the beautiful landscapes in the Alps. All competitions (except for the Austrian nationals – in any sport hall) are held in open air, high (sometimes very high) in the mountains.

(though this isn't the best article about Ranggeln)
