Default k-8 folkstyle dad needs help coaching take downs

Hi all I came to this site for help we are in a small town where the k-8 club coaching is in need of help. I may be trying to help next year and want to ask for great coaching guides I have went to our local library and picked up some refrence materials but they seem dated and don't speak directly to drilling and systems for teaching little kids technique. Any recommendations on what i should pick up as a potential coach. There seem to be lots of programs out there.

For now our regionals are a few weeks away and I have a son and several 7 and 8 year olds that are frustrated with take downs my son for example grade 2 is 72 lbs and getting discouraged this is his first year he is strong and tall and can hold his own with kids older than him. he has a fair mat game if he gets a chance to use it. but as at our last turney the other wrestlers saw he was not good on his feet and they creamed him. Not good for morale and I don't want him giving up. FOR NOW IS THERE ANY TECHNIQUE TO HELP HIM WITH SHOOTING. (he has become passive to try for a shot and as a result is backing up raising his level and reaching over when opponents shoot he ends up on his butt with opponet in his lap. arggg!!!!!) He is lanky and growing into a tall frame with slow(big) feet.

I know the basics but getting him to gain confidence is hard because current coaches show the technique(not well) and then rush into heads up wrestling and the kids are so different is size age and ability it is hard for many to have sucess in practise. Thanks for any help out there!

I'm sure Schlottke will chime in with more.

The post I use to try and keep tabs on the technique added here...

and then:

http://www.hswrestling.net/category/...ing-technique/

Which is more of a set of study guides (i.e. Principles of Hand Control), but there are other video techniques on there as well..

Wiltz.. haha, you knew!
