This may have already been asked but I thought i would bring it up anyway.
Why do you consider wrestling the best sport in the world? |

It requires extreme dedication 24 hours a day; strength, balance and agility; and mental and emotional toughness. As an individual sport, it gives no opportunity for excuses in defeat, but provides supreme satisfaction in victory. Also, if coached properly, wrestling teaches values and develops personality traits which will serve an individual well throughout life. And pinning people is FUN!

And pinning people is FUN! | I like all this, but would add that is a sport that generally allows for brains (technique) over brawn. Maybe as Big would want to say, being "clever" allows you to beat up on someone who is more athletic than you if they are just a brute that is not very strategic or has little technical skill. |

I also like the history that wrestling has. If anyone on here get's a chance do some research on a man who wrestled in the early part of the 1900's named Frank Gotch. It is really cool.
It is funny how after wrestling i am using the same lessons i learned in the wrestling room in the Corporate world. Plus kicking some ass is always fun.

1) Overwhelmingly sportsmanship- I think, is at a much higher level in wrestling among the wrestlers, coaches & fans more so than any other sport I have coached (Football, Baseball, Wrestling)
2) History- It was the among the first sports ever to be in the olympics.
3) Life skills- Mental dedication/work ethic, physical conditioning etc. |

Wrestling doesnt demand one high level skill, it demands many.
As a wrestler you are as strong as a weight lifter, fit as a marathon runner, supple as a gymnast, smart as a chess player and as fast as a sprinter.
Thats why it is the best sport in the world imo. |

Spider said it very well. The one thing I would like to add is the friendships made in wrestling. I have been out of competition for over 20 years, however I can run into someone that I haven't seen for 15 years and we pick up right where we left off. |

Wrestling is the most "democratic" of sports. It matters not what size you are, of what ethnicity or race from which you come nor your gender. The athlete that works the hardest and learns the most almost always triumphs. |
