The recent passing of 1948 Olympic gold medalist Glen Brand -- and, a month earlier, silver medalist Gerry Leeman -- got me thinking about the US wrestlers who competed in London at the first Summer Games after World War II. That generation is leaving us. We're coming up on the fifth anniversary of the passing of another US Olympian from that summer -- Dick Hutton. He placed fifth in freestyle competition at superheavyweight. Hutton is more famous for his wrestling back here at home. He was THE heavyweight for THE college program in the US at the time, Oklahoma State. He just missed out on being the first FOUR-TIME NCAA champ (on a controversial ref's decision -- that's how ties were broken back in 1949). It was his only loss in a steller Cowboy career. I've just updated the photo album honoring this great. Visit the Yahoo group NCAA HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPS http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group...weight_Champs/ go to the PHOTOS section, and click on "1947-48, 50 Dick Hutton - Oklahoma State" album. Mark
