Sunny Day! History of women's amateur Wrestling

    Hi Guys and Gals,

Iam doing a research on women's Wrestling and i am also the "unofficial " co-ordinator for the Women's Wrestling team from India.

This is "research" is important because this will determine government's support for Women's Wrestling.

I'd like to know when and how did women's wrestling begin? And Also how it has progressed to become an olympic sport involving nearly 70 countries.

Please send me the information at my Email: venkat.krishnank@gmail.com or call me at 0091-989-269-9145

    Thanking You,

    Hello Venkatkrishnan
My name is Michael Burch, I coach men's wrestling at Brown University in the United States. I have also coached women over the years, but most colleges are not yet very open to women wrestling. I know you are looking for information on the history of women's wrestling. I assume you mean for India, but if you are just looking for histories of women's wrestling anywhere, I can tell you a little bit about it in the United States as I have been very involved with the fight to keep it growing. I also teach history and i think it is a great idea that you are trying to write a history for women's wrestling. I would like to know what you find out from people in India or anywhere around the world. There would be no better way to help promote women's wrestling than by creating a partnership among women wrestling supporters all around the world and talk about its history and significance for sports, women, and society. What can you tell me about women's wrestling in India and have you gotten many responses?
    Michael Burch
