Possible remake of "Vision Quest" starring "New Moon" lead Lautner

Here's what I wrote about this "news" for Examiner.com:

Taylor Lautner, who played Jacob in the recent hit movie New Moon, is reportedly in talks to star in a remake of Vision Quest, the iconic 1985 film about a high school wrestler in search of himself.

According to reports from the New York Daily News and E! News websites, the 17-year-old Lautner would play the lead role of Louden Swain, portrayed by Matthew Modine in the original film.

UGH......Why does Hollywood insist on remaking everything. 99.9% of all remakes don't even come close to the original.

this is blasphemy, first the Karate Kid, now this.

I certainly hope that they bring in Terry Davis to assist on this remake.
