Countless e-mails and texts have been received about the Greco-Roman rules.

My dad, who has limited wrestling knowledge, comes in and goes "how the heck do you score in that Roman Greco wrestling?"

It took me a long time to explain it and he was like "damn, that's stupid."

MSNBC showed every gold medal match for all seven weights as part of a block of coverage that began at 5am. The wrestling was always at the end of the coverage so it came on around 9am.

They also showed almost all matches by American wrestlers, including Wheeler's bronze medal match. They'd also show the following matches by opponents that we lost to when the match determined if we'd get into the wrestlebacks.

Keep in mind that they're trying to show live events in prime time, which means events that are taking place in the morning in Beijing. Wrestling obviously finishes in the evening, so it's finals will be shown in the morning here.

I just checked nbcolympics.com and they're planning on showing similar coverage for both men's and women's freestyle as part of the same 5am to 11am or noon block of coverage.

I have been watching via the internet for the past week. I have not seen one clip on TV, of course the only time I can watch is at night when it is considered prime time (dang having to go to work). Anyhow when the freestyle is on I may try and DVR it to see how much coverage there is.
Champions are made while no one is watching.

May I add though the other night all I could find on my TV were: syncronized diving, equestrian, and boxing. Neither of which I really would enjoy watching.

the rule change has killed greco. i tried to explain it to my wife, who is way smarter than me, and she didn't get it. the match strategy is to do nothing and leave it to the ball bag! boring.
but then again, i may be retarded

I was scrolling through the TV coverage schedule the other day, and if I remember correctly, there was more freestyle wrestling scheduled than greco-roman. So, the rule thing could have something to do with not seeing much so far (since it's all been greco).

There, sir, you have just captured what is wrong with international wrestlings in 2 sentences. Your father, for all his lack of wrestling knowledge, has encapsulated wrestling.
