Anti-semitism is something that hits me very close to home. Let me tell you why.

In 1941, my father was in the old Army Air Corp statationed in the Phillppines. He was an atty and was assigned to defend a soldier being courtmarshalled for bedwetting. My father found a doctor who would testify that this was an emotional disorder and not something worthy of a DD.

He got to be very good friends with this Doc as the military situation worsened. Eventually they were captured and became part of the Bataan Death March. After the march they were placed in the Cabanatuan Camp. While there, my father contracted malaria, dysentary, beri beri and I dont remember what else ON TOP OF the systematic starvation of all of the prisoners by the Japs. It was at this time that this doctor did what he could to save my dad's life including giving him some of his very very meager rations. Due to this man's sacrifice, that most certainly endangered his own life, my father survived.

My father went into the war an agnostic and before the war ended (he had been moved to Japan by the time), had a near death experiance became a commited Christian.

He told me that that doctor, his best friend, who was a jew... was the most Christian man he ever knew.

And my middle name now honors him.

I actually own the book "Downfall", I got it for Christmas but I've yet to get the chance to read it.

There is a book about the fall of Japan. I cant remember the name of it, but it details the whole situation. If you cant find it on e-bay let me know.
