I probably should tell you something about myself so you never become confused by my statements.

My father was a WWII veteran. He was on the infamous Bataan Death March in the Philippines. During his service there he became friends with a Jewish (non-practicing like you) doctor.

During the time of their imprisonship this doctor kept my dad from starving by giving him some of his own very meager rations. He also helped nurse my father during bouts of malaria, dystentary, etc. Basically he kept my father alive.

Toward the end of the war, while in Japan by this time, my father had a very deep religious experiance and became a very committed Christian.

He often told me this Doctor was the most Christian man he ever met.

I was named for this Doctor.

So you can see why I have such an interest (and very profound respect) for Judism.
