Does Askren know how to wrestle freestyle?

The funk he will bring will get him some victorys. I would like to think he gets a medal but his bracket is full of experince and talent. good luck to him and team usa.

I personally don't think age is going to be the main issue if he wrestles Saitiev, but Askren's defense is. Because once Saitiev starts finding ways to score on him and when he does, Askren won't be able to stop him for his life. Because once Saitiev starts scoring, he doesn't stop until the match is over. Ben is going to need to worry more about his defense than offense, once it comes to Saitiev. Bens only hope to win, is to either counter every attack Saitiev throws at him or just be very offensive. In my case it would be best for him to counter-attack than to just attack, because Saitievs defense is amazing; i don't think its possible to score on him due to his incredible flexibility, which is the reason why. But really i just don't see Askren beating him.

Saitiev is a huge hurdle for askren to overcome, but Aldatov's offence is going to be impossible for Askren to stop. i could see aldatov winning similar to his match with Fundora at the 07 worlds. With all that said i will be rooting for Askren to go shock the world.

If Askren and Saitiev find themselves wrestling Id be stupid enough to predict an Askren win 1-4, 2-1, 2-1.

It could even be uglier in the first, but askren will figure out how to slow it down and score small wins later.

I don't get what all the hype is around Askren. I think he's cocky and not really as good as people think he is. Sure he won alot in college and by large margins, but nobody seems to remember that Pendleton kicked his butt for two years. Somone said that he is the best wrestler since Gable. You have got to be kidding me. I would say there have been many wrestlers since Gable that are better than Askren. Sanderson, McLravy and Pendleton are just a few that come to mind. I could probably name ten more. Personally I think Askren has built alot of hype around himself with internet blogs, big hair and spouting off when he should have just shut up. He's marketed himself so well that everyone now thinks of him as one of the all time greats. He isnt and won't be. So far he's all hat and no cattle. Why would you say that your gonna beat one of the all time greats if you havnt done anything yet? I wish he would just shut up and wrestle. I also wish everyone would stop slobbering all over him like he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Sorry for the rant. He just rubs me the wrong way.

Pendleton has done worse in Freestyle than Askren has. I do not think he has ever made a national team. So relative to the US, he is doing something right...relative to the rest of the world, he has a way to go.
