I seem to recall that some American was awarded a medal (maybe gold) from the 2004 Olympics based on his opponent failing drug test.

Can anyone recall who and why. Or if it even happened?

Brandon Slay won in 2000. He lost to a German in the finals but the German then failed a drug test.

He beat Saitiev 4-3 OT. In the finals he lost to Leipold 4-0 but was awarded the Gold after Leipold tested positive for nandrolone.
