If you've read it, what do you think of the book?
If you haven't read it, what do you think of some of the things Hopping says about the sport and some of its major players ( Cael Sanderson, John Smith, Dan Gable, Mike Chapman...)?
Mark

Wrestling does not promote itself well, great fighters go about their business in a workman like and uninspired fashion. Compare a boxer or MMA fighter entering the ring vs a wrestler, it's drama vs pathos. Boxing makes superfights to capture the publics fancy, why not wrestling? Who would everyone like to see Cael Sanderson fight? Make the match, sell it, get corporate sponsors. Forget about him getting back to Olympic Gold, how about a matchup instead, him against the Olympic Champ? How about a rematch between Angle and the Iranian? Or, how about Mark Schultz, you can't tell me he isn't in need of a beatdown and --------- is just the guy to do it! Matches like those outlined above could also be part of an MMA card, this would allow a betting line to be established, something key to fan interest. This is going to sound off the wall, but, wrestling could learn from Vince McMahon (before he slipped over to the Dark Side). Wrestling should be fun for the fans. Maybe use FILA Grappling rules instead of strict Freestyle, or, allow the sides to modify the rules. Put a belt up, a real pro wrestling belt, I think it could be very successful.

I read the book. I thought it was good enjoyed it start to finish. I fail to see any controversy.

I think the topic is good, but it was insanely hard to get through because it didn't flow from phrase to phrase. I think "overwritten" might be the term. Granted, I've never written a book and I'll give Nick all the credit in the world for undertaking an endeavor like such -- but there's some facts out there many don't realize.
