Tournaments Joined: 0 Tournament Wins: 0 ![]() | new rules promote shorter matches with more stalling. what were they thinking? most stalling occurs near the end of matches with 1 man protecting a lead. the new rules have created a situation where this is almost always the case. boring. 4 minute matches...boring . drained of the drama that happens when a well conditioned man comes from way behind to win ala the abas-McIavery(sp) match of a few years back....pretty darn near ruined the sport of freestyle for me. |

Tournaments Joined: 0 Tournament Wins: 0 ![]() | I've heard the new rules described as "more tactical and less technical" than before and I think that's bang-on. I'm not sure about the "more stalling", especially as compared to folkstyle, which has some REALLY boring matches. Compared to the "glory days" of the 80's today's matches are like watching paint dry. However, the years leading up to the rule changes had some pretty dull matches as well. How many 2-1 nine minute matches were there before the new rules came into place? Too many. |
