My Mood: Tournaments Joined: 0 Tournament Wins: 0 ![]() ![]() | Upon request I will explain this once again. In today's Olympics the media pays for organization of Olympics. The media gets the money by advertising various products on TV that people viewing Olympics might want to buy. Who watches Olympics the most? Someone who has a TV and a lot of time while being at home. These are housewives! Now the media evaluates which sports are viewed the most and which are viewed the least. If a sport is not viewed, it gets oppressed or eliminated since you can't make money off of it. Since housewives are reluctant to watch wrestling FILA tries to change the rules to make housewives more interested or at least FILA hopes they will get more interested. In the end, Olympics is controlled by housewives, the ultimate shoppers and spenders of money! Last edited by Big; 06-19-2008 at 03:55 PM. |

It makes sense in a very conspiracy theory sort of fashion. I agree that the rules have been changed in an attempt to make the sport more specator friendly. But that is the pressure form the IOC. Fila should have stood its ground. NOW, had you said that FILA changed the rules so that everyone gets to win or a trophy even when they don't deserve it, which is sort of like now, I would agree with that. M

Now, if USA dominated, most likely the rules would not be changed as much. FILA doesn't have much pull with IOC because IOC can drop FILA like a bad habit. IOC gets its money from the media which is catering to housewives. You can call me names all you want but its sort of like throwing stones at the messenger. I read on the Russian website how Martinetti regularly gets an earful from IOC to increase appeal or be gone from Olympics. |

However, marketing pays my mortgage and the numbers show him to be correct about viewership. Worldwide, more women watch the Olympics than men. I'm choking as I type. |

As much as I like to disagree with big given the opportunity, for the most part, I think troll in this instance is bit harsh. I have actually read and respnded to this theory before, I just didn't want to see the Karelin letter thread turn into this. However, from time to time, I can appreciate a well thought out, crazy chain of events theory which I can argue with.

| Resident Riverdancer ![]() | Who watches the Olympics during the primetime broadcasts? You know, in the evenings, when the housewives are cooking dinner for their husbands/families, giving the children their baths, washing dishes after dinner, etc?
