Adam Sandursky was probably 310-320. He was greatly affected when the weight was given a limit of 286. But the guy was also 7 feet tall, and not your normal heavyweight and a poor example.

I just don't like the fact that there is a cap. There weren't too many heavies over 300 to begin with, at least not too many successful ones. The trend is that people are supposedly getting bigger and putting more muscle on, so why put a cap on the biggest weight.

i remember reading, in the late 80's, that the guy from poland had to loose 100lbs when they put a limit on hwt in the late 80's?

I think 275 to 285 is better. That and I don't think Karelin weighed 300lbs.

Big, I think the issue here is not whether Mocco would be better at 286, 300, or unlimited. After watching him for the last 5 years of college, and 2 years of Freestyle, He's rarely shown me anything in terms of offense.

I'm a heavyweight too, and I have no offense either, so I'm not knocking him. But, to say that the weight loss is causing him to underperform is silly. because I wrestled this weight my whole life, I appreciate the positioning and skill set that heavies have.

I don't feel that it is reasonable or rational, to come to this conclusion. Cutting weight sucks, and it does affect wrestlers. I cut to 197 three years in college and that blew. 264 is far, far too low for the heavyweight class. I think everyone can agree on that.

I think a more productive post would have been, 264 is too light for heavyweights.

I don't think that anyone who's seen him wrestle can say that Mocco's style has changed AT ALL. And I also don't think Karelin and some apparently great wrestler from Poland are examples that help what your original post was about.

There would be more of those exceptions if the weight limit were higher. Also, Karelin did weigh over 300 pounds. His website gives his competitive weight, not his real weight.

How do you know he was over 300lbs? Karelin was huge but he didn't have much fat on him.
