Martinetti told them supposedly because Russia has proven to have the best resources for organizing high level tournaments.

It actually makes perfect sense. Think about it. Russia is a fairly stable country and relatively friendly to all other countries around the World.

Russia is easy to get to for most of the main wrestling powers except for Cuba and USA.

Russian wrestling is backed by oil money so it has much more money to spend on organizing a tourney than America.or any other country.

Russia will host World Cups in places like Vladikavkaz and Krasnoyarsk that are 4 times cheaper for teams on low budgets than lets say any venue in America.

Russia will host the tournaments in places with very knowledgeable and enthusiastic fans that will make wrestlers feel special.

Russia hopes to expand the wrestling tradition and clubs everywhere it hosts a World Cup.

In America on the other hand you will just get many American spectators that don't even understand or like International wrestling. They will do nothing but complain how freestyle is inferior to folkstyle and how Americans got robbed.

That's stupid. So the other traditional wrestling countries have no say in it. Sounds like something Martinetti would try to do. It's not going to happen.
