do russians cut weight? and if they do what is the standard cut to them? how much do wrestlers like murtazaliev or batirov or even Saitiev cut?

hmm 10 pounds within a week eh, i know guys that cut something from 15-25 within 4 days, they always make weight but they look like death doing it, so i guess the russians dont really cut alot although i was always curious to what murtazaliev cut for 66 back in the day

Russians are not big on cutting weight. 8 kilograms or 15 pounds is a big deal for them. So yes 8-10 pounds is considered normal. murtazaliev cut 15 pounds for 66.

For the 120kg weight class, do you have to weight at exactly 264.5lbs or below to wrestle at it, or can you weight as much as you want like 280 or 290?

You have to make the actual 120 kilos.
And no other country that i have wrestled in or trained in cut weight like the Americans. While competing in Europe at a tournament, i was having trouble making weight, getting tired and just jogging with plastics on-I looked over at a Swedish wrestler and he was doing dummy throws and drilling to lose the last pound or two. He seemed just as big as I was and i could not figure out how he could make weight like that. It was natural to him.

People have made the arguments that murtazaliev's performance at Worlds in 06, and Ketoev's performance this year were a result of either pulling too much weight, or pulling the weight improperly.

In murtazaliev's case he moved up to 74 and won a World Title last year, Ketoev is rumored to be going up as well.
