Now come on big fella, don't do that.
I'll tell you what will make you feel better. Turn off the light bulb, escape the basement, move to Georgia, join up with your Russian homeboys, drink some Cokes and solve this Bigfoot mystery once and for all.

Now perhaps I am wrong (hard to judge a man after watching only ten minutes of his actions) but Saitiev's actions during, and more importantly, after the match show his level of respect for the sport. It didn't appear for a minute that he put himself above it all, despite his incredible accomplishments. Would you see a US basketball player do the same after winning gold. I think not...
I don't yearn for more recognition, as long as we understand the level of sacrifice and accomplishment, thats enough for me.
Congrats to Askren and Schwab for getting there and representing us. How many would give and arm and leg just for that opportunity. Not sure about schwab but Askren will be back and better next time.
BTW- Has anyone retired their boots to the center of the mat this year? If so who....
In the past no...bit this year's team seems to be handling themselves with class and determination. This is the first US BBall team in awhile that I can root for.

I would agree that wrestlers do not get enough respect, however what Michael Phelps did was incredible and outstanding. Eight gold medals (fourteen total) is an incredible accomplishment. He had to swim several styles against many athletes that specialize in that one area.
As far as wrestling goes. Even with more styles I don't think that a single athlete would earn multiple medals too often. It is too demanding of a sport. After a match you are too beat up to hop on the adjacent mat and wrestle again, against somebody fresh. It's comparing apples to oranges.

And what about footbal, handball, volleyball and other team games, where you must compete two or more weeks to win a medal? We can not compare wrestling with swimming, with team games etc.

Exactly. In softball, Japan played 21 innings (in two games) to get into the gold medal game. They will only get one medal. (Hopefully silver - go USA!)
