I was surprised that the article didn't reference Kolat.

Big is correct here. Heidari dominated the match and then as Cormier was playing catchup and gaining momentum, Heidari, in order to protect his lead, played the typical Iraninan tactic of taking time outs and slowly walking back to the center to offset Cormier's tempo and slow down the match. I mean, at one point Cormier was behind Heidari and Heidari hit a switch on him and scored the takedown. I'd be pissed to.

It frustrated Cormier but there is not rule about having to run back to the center of the mat. Cormier lost and was pissed that the official did not push the Iranian to wrestle the way Cormier wanted. I saw no corruption nor bad officiating in that match. Cormier got beat and he was just being a baby.

I don't remember many complaining about bad officiating in Cormier's or Guerrero's 2003 world matches.
I remember a lot of embarassment over the way they behaved.

I don't think FILA officials are out to "get" Americans. That doesn't mean they're not shady though. Sometimes Americans benefit from the wierd calls that go on and sometimes they don't. The Article seems to suggest that FILA is corrupt, not that they have a specific anti-American vendetta. The Cormier match is a poor example, but that doesn't mean the article does not have a valid point.

The article definitely raises a valid point, but when they give BS examples it takes away from the message they are trying send. And when people who read the article who don't know the sport as well and/or have never seen the match and don't know any better, they believe what they read. It's bogus.

I don't think the Cormier match was a good example. Cormier didn't chase Heidari around the mat, he just pushed him from behind. Plus Cormier is like 0-3 against Heidari. Some of the other matches like Henson's have some weight though.

It is all corrupt and there has been times that Americans have had to be corrupt as well. i am well aware of an incident at the 2007 World Championships when it came down to Lopez needing to beat the Russian so that the US would win the team title. The Russian coaches kept trying to talk to Lopez and the Cuban coaches, next thing everyone saw was the American wrestling diplomats talking to Lopez's coaches. I am not saying that we can bribe someone to win, they still need to wrestle, but they were making damn sure that the Russians were not buying Lopez off. I definitely do not agree with anything that you are saying BIG, acting like a baby on the mat and bad officiating are completely different than FILA corruption (which i do believe exists).
On a side not, the American Team did win money for being the 2007 World Champs but it was never turned in to customs or recorded when they returned-I wonder what they did with it before they got back. I know my friend on the team did not get a cut and that it was gone before they even left-weird huh.

Slay did not get his gold because of corruption-it was because of German doping
Kolat got screwed and I still don;t truly understand the arguments
Angle probably should not have won, but Townsed Saunders should have and did not

What happened with Saitiev and Gaidrov in '04? I Remember the fight but not the disputed call.
