Could be mistaken on a couple of the guys and their stat's. I cannot pick a most dominate of all-time, yet this is a pretty good list IMHO.

Karelin is the obvious choice, technique or no technique. Other than Karelin, I like the call of Nazarian. He was a scary dude too.

Oleg was only a one time Olympic Champ. Sorry for the misinformation. Regardless the dude was very talented and helped Germany for many years on their world team after he left Russia. I guess he is a PE teacher somewhere over there.

So what you all are saying is that Karelin didn't really have the greatest technique, that it was just his strength that made him so nt because he was like 10x more stronger than a normal hwt and just pushed them around like a doll because no one else could compare to his strength?

I don't know what made Karelin so great, I've never seen a full match of his. Clearly his mental game was superb to stay unbeaten and unscored-on for so long, whatever his physical and technical strengths and weaknesses were.

I know Nazarian won a bunch of medals, but what exactly are his accomplishments?

Nazarian has three Olympic medals. He won Gold in 1996 and 2000. He took the Bronze in 2004.

Then he also has seven medals at World Championships. Gold in 2002 and 2003. Silver in 1993 and 1995. Then Bronze 1997, 1998, and 1999.

The majority of HWT's did not want to wrestle Karelin as many thought he may injure them with the reverse lift. The fear was a broken neck. Only two guys really wrestled him without the fear of injury (Matt Ghaffari and Rulon Gardner).

I kind of favor the bell curve (avg sized men in the world around 68"-ish and 72kg-ish) and look to the weight in the middle for some of the most talented athletes in the world. I made up the figures as I am to lazy to look that information up.

So, looking outside the box how many heavyweights are there in the world that wrestle vs the middle weights? This is why it is do difficult for the average height and weight joe to win multiple medals consecutively and if it does occur shake that man's hand as he has ninja training in a gangsta sport.

Just one bums opinion....

qs i have to disagree about karelin. it though he was technically sound several different ways. i can see why it didn't look that way because most of his scores from his feet developed slowly. great strength with out a lot of speed but consistently proper.

however props for mentioning islam duguchiev and mnatsakan iskandarian. iskandarian had the most nasty inside step arm drag ever. i'm glad to see someone else around here notices this stuff. i'd add seref ergulu when it comes to technically sound in a huge variety of scores. i always loved watching his matches.

fishpimp i like the names on your list. maenza had two golds and a silver. azcuy had an unstopable straddle lift and low lock gut.
