One thing Russian coaches never do is brag about good spots in the bracket, especially when you have top wrestlers on your side. they will be like: "This wrestler is pretty accomplished and that wrestler will be a good test" Then the wrestlers kick butts.


All this stuff about brawling and street fighting should be left for MMA.

Why do you find that funny? That sums up Randi's style pretty well. Randi is moving out here after the Olympics to train in MMA and her style of wrestling is perfect for that.

As for brawling style and such its an American cliche I think. Lets see some cool moves and throws.

There is nothing wrong with going into a match with confidence. If you go out there and think "oh my god I have the returning world champ, i don't think i cna beat her"-then you already lost. I think it is great that Steiner has confidence in his athletes. Everyone knows the style typical style that the US has always had in wrestling and it often wins matches. I think it is a great style in womens wrestling due to the sport being so new and technique is not at the level of the mens. Also, in womens wrestling you can win a lot of matches by being physical and straight out tough.

Big, I know that Russia is great and they have had a better performance in the Olympics so far, but stop bashing everything the U.S. has done so far-why all the hate toward the athletes and coaches.

No, it's not necessarily an American cliche. Steiner was just pointing out that the brawling style was the style used by one of his athletes. You didn't notice him saying that about Chun since Chun doesn't employ that style -- she is more of a technician than a brawler.

And he didn't "promise" that Randi would beat everyone on her side of the bracket, he said she had the ability to do so.

This is one of my best friends you are talking about, Big. Show some respect for Randi since she has worked her butt off and come a long way to make it to Beijing.

I don't see any need for undue optimism. Actions speak louder than words.

Lets face it it wasn't exactly close when two US women lost today. They got whooped. They were not on the level. Not even close.

As for brawling, it alone rarely wins Gold medals at Olympics.
