Default Why one day for each weight class?

Maybe a naive question, but why did FILA decide that weight classes would be completely contested on one day? Was it to prevent athletes from ballooning up too much on consecutive days, or to avoid more than one day of weigh-ins?

Good question! So why do the boxing wt. class competitions last for several days? What about judo? Do the olympic boxers have to weigh in more than once for the whole tournament?

Judo does the whole bracket in one day.
I do't know if it is like this in international tournaments, but all of the large Judo tournaments in the Northeast I have been to they do only a few weight classes at a time, so after most people have been eliminated the last matches come really quickly. They had a rule. that you require at least one match-length rest between bouts
