First and foremost, one setup won't work most of the time. Learn to combine your setups and they will be more effective.

I mainly shoot high-c and sweeps, see once I get to the leg I am really good, problem is I just have to get to the leg.

My favorite setup on any type of one legged shot was to circle with the opponent and get him stepping.. time when his foot is about to touch the ground and shoot to that leg. (i.e. if you're shooting a High-C to the left leg of your opponent get him circling left so all of his weight will be moving toward the leg you will be attacking..)

The point of this is simply to attack the opponent at his weakest- when he has just shifted a great deal of his body weight to one foot. The further you can get him to step away from his center of gravity (reasonably), the better... just don't over do it.

Add to the circling an array of constant head smashes/tapping and wrist chopping/tugging and you will have him so confused as to why you are paying so much attention to his hands/head that he won't even think about where he is stepping.

>> If you push the back of his head down he will try to bring it up.. apply enough pressure and when he is forcing it back up, let go.. time this with him stepping and you can take your shot..

>> If you pull on his wrist he will (generally) try to pull it away. Circle with him and pull the wrist.. as he pulls away and steps, he opens up your offense to the leg of the wrist you control.

Might be a bit long winded, but maybe you'll pick something up out of there.. lol

i also like to get them to step but i dont like to tie up much from a shot so what i do is take a step back and have them advance and then i attack there open leg.

As my coach told me which I finally get, it's better to have a thousand set-ups with one shot than a thousand shots with one set-up. With that said learn as many set-ups as you can and you will be very hard to defend.

For the high crotch i like to shoot it when they have a collar tie on my head, i throw it by and shoot in. You can use a head snap and then go into it for an added set up or fake that side and shoot a single on the other leg.

Hey thanks for all of the advice...I was talking to this guy a couple of days ago and he said when comes to set ups remember four things. Elbow control, Inside control, Wrist control, and set ups from no tie up. He also said to always be moving the guy. Do you think that this was good advice.
