Good luck finding any. They all play football and when it comes to wrestling they cant hang. Not all of them but most of them cant hang at all and it just brings the room down. I have been to kids club practices tougher than a practice at a rich high school.

Hey, Thanks again guys. I will be moving to the scottsdale area so I don't know how many times I'll make it down to Tucson, but hopefully I'll be able to see Sunnyside a couple times next year.

Just from another board Desert Mountain and Marcos De Niza seem to be the schools around that area making the most noise... any info?

Thanks again guys.

You can go here....

http://www.aiaonline.org/athletics/brackets.php

It has all the brackets for the past few years of the various state tournaments.

The Peoria tournament is the best tournament in the Phoenix area, and either first or second best tournament in the State - which includes the State tournaments.

The Flowing Wells tournament is the best one in the Tucson area and this tournament, and Peoria, usually trade off to which is the best. Peoria is usually the first weekend in Janurary. Flowing Wells is usually the following weekend. Both tournaments get most of the best teams in the state and a few out of state teams as well.

Marcos is usually pretty tough...I imagine that Applegate was the one who told you about Desert Mountain "making some noise", so you gotta take that with a grain of salt. His "prodigy" goes there, so he's pretty bias.

Sunnyside comes up to Phoenix for a couple of tourneys during the year, so you should be able to see them w/o having to travel to Tucson.

I agree with Sgallan and homer. I would have to say the top 5 teams in the state are Sunnyside, Mingus, Safford, Mesa and Thunderbird. With Corona and Marcos on the tail of Thunderbird.

Does anyone know if any of these teams will be attending the showdown duals in phoenix this upcoming season? I think the dates are around the 20th and 21st of december.

I think Thunderbird is a little overrated, mainly because they are in a weak division. Keep in mind they didn't even win state this past year in 4A-Division 1. I think Corona would have throttled them this past year. Just my opinion though.

I can agree with you here but when you look at where they came from ten years ago to now being a perennial power I would say Coach Linscum has made a great impact on AZ wrestling. Even though he is a total douche but his son Tanner is a stud and won the dII nationals 3yrs ago and he is a great guy.

Yeah, I've heard nothing but bad things about the coach there (attitude wise that is)

I have known the family for a long time, my cousin wrestled for him and coached with him so I have seen and heard it all about him. There was a chance he was coming back to Colorado and nobody in the wrestling community wanted that. It is pretty sad because he is a great coach.
