I always wore a tie and a blazer -I felt ridiculous but I figured I could stand it for a couple of hours . Now summer tournaments and such were a different story -but I wasn't being paid either .

I believe it was an Indian Creek coach.
I will smash your face into a car windshield and then take your mother, Dorothy Mantooth, out to a nice seafood dinner and never call her again!
Tell me about it, this morning, I woke up and I shit a squirrel, but what I can't get is the damn thing is still alive. So now, I've got a shit covered squirrel running around my office and I don't know what to name it.
With the opinions of a few it seems like we will continue to be our own worst enemies.
Well okay, but if I just decide to walk away because of something like this (I wouldn't but I could see it happening to folks not as obsessed as I am), then the area no longer has youth wrestling. Because for the past five years I have been pretty much it. For the five years before that it was mostly me and one other guy and him only for a couple of months. And trying to get anybody to help me at all is a challenge, telling them they have to dress up as well..... that ain't gonna fly around here.
I am 49, bald, ugly, and don't own a single cool thing. Kids like me though.
I really don't think that a coach will walk a way from the sport just because he has to look nice. I also agree it is imoportant to represent you and your program when coaching, I would love to see a dress code or atleast have one in place during sections and the state tournament. Our head coach and AD have always had the rule about wearing slacks and I can honestly tell you I have never sat at a tournament and thought man am I uncomfortable I wish I had jeans on.
LOL...... you haven't been to my neck of the woods. Heck most of the time they are lucky to get anybody to coach the HS kids, and virtually nobody has a youth program. Besides, the best coach in this state coaches in the team sweats (nice sweats mind you). He is just an amazing person/coach/mentor for the wrestlers, and coaches, of this state. I am pretty sure hardly anybody thinks less of him because he's not in a tie.

I'm sure people who don't know him think he's a slob and doesn't represent the school in a professional manner. Its not the people in the sport that care, its the other people who think our sport is trash because coaches can dress in a professional manner.
