Hearts are broken dreams shattered and heroes made in the next three weeks here in Ohio. Sectional tourney time Friday. If you have never witnessed the Ohio State wrestling tournament you are truley missing out on one of the eight wonders of the sports world.
Bigger and better than any other state period. |

Yea I believe Iowa is the highest-attended state tournament in the country. Way to be up on your wrestling trivia Schlottke!
Still, I would like to see other state tournaments to see how they are run, what the set up is, etc. Probably won't make it to Ohio, but another state would be interesting to see.

I know the Iowa finals have been sold out since at least the 70's, but the seating in Vets and now Wells Fargo is not 17K. But in terms of overall attendance at all sessions, I think that's what they're talking about. But this is just going off of what I heard from who knows where.

Pennsylvania State Championship
Since 1938
Giant Center - Hershey, PA
3 days - 2 divisions - 16 man brackets - 8 places
Total attendance - 55,000 +
Finals are broadcast live statewide

PA looks pretty impressive, they should do like New Zealand's and have it surrounded in fire, and instead of competing against a human, you are forced to face a ferel pig.
I think the one thing that sets the Ohio tourny apart is the professional appeal. I haven't been to too many other state tournys (Tennessee is laughable) but the Ohio state tourny has a more professional feel. It looks like PA's, but I haven't seen their's in person. |

Ohio is currently 5 sessions in 3 days. Highest attendance was in 2003 at 75,582. Highest single session was finals in 2003 at 16,994. |
