Thread: Little help please

    Default Little help please

Me and a buddy of mine a starting a Jr. wrestling program here to give the kid's some good basics before they get to HS. The HS coach has never been on a mat before so they need all the help they can get. Any help on a good starting point and a good cariculum(sp) whould be greatly appriciated. I know what I am going to do for my boys but they are past the basics. Teaching a group of kids who don't know the difference between a half and a double leg, I am a little lost.

    Thanx in advance

USA Wrestling has many good coaching basic advanced manuals & videos available for coaches and wrestlers and links to others sites with many good items.

The Guillotine also has a number of good links to training materials for all levels of wrestlers and coaches.

I tried tracking down the URLs to post them, where are they on TheGuillotine and TheMat?

Thanx Schlottke, I was looking for about an hour this morning and couldn't find them. Just thought I was missing something.

http://www.theguillotine.com/ (a really good Minnesota & regional site)

    http://www.themat.com/ (for USA national site)

    http://mnusa.wrestlingsystems.com/ (for USA Minnesota site)

I meant, where in each site are the coaching articles

On posting links: TheWrestlingTalk.com's only policies regarding linking are that the member cannot link until they reach 3 posts (automated) and they cannot, at any time, contain unsolicited advertisements from unapproved members (JensenS ultimately decides that)... Basically when someone becomes a long-time member of the community they may get a bit more leeway..

We would never prevent any linking that helps people find the information they are looking for.

I don't think the sites have "Coaching Articles" but they do have links to coaching tools- instructional books and videos like...

    http://www.theguillotine.com/general/books.htm

(The book "Coaching Youth Wrestling" found on the link listed above is a great starting guide book for new youth coaches and new wrestler parents)
