Disinfect those mats AND after practice nad matches. Everyone showeres. Biocide soaps in the showers. No one goes home without a shower. Everyone launders their workout gear every night. No sharing headgear and soft pads, towels, etc.
Unless the coaches get on these kids butts, there are going to be a lot that will miss the state tournament this year. The officials aren't screwing around with MRSA floating a- bout.

I agree that those things will help, but it isn't a sure thing. My college coach had the mats disinfected daily, we all had to shower before and after practice, and our practice cloths were washed daily in hot water. We still had issues with herpes. It's a virus, so it isn't as affected by hygiene as some other bacterial skin disorders.

I think what we see happening is as more and more kids travel from tournament to tournament in state or out of state, the infections/diseases are spreading at a more rapid rate. On top of that, the diseases are most likely building up a resistance to the disinfectant.

I don't know how that makes them a better team. And now they are spreading it to other states with the tournaments they travel too. Thanks Pennsylvania wrestling!
