I know the Gophers just got beat but hey Owatonna beat Wisc. number 1 ranked team in division 2, Luxemburg-Casco, on Saturday. GO MN...sorry not funny...The seasons not over yet though. Hopefully the Gophers big guns won't all lose at the same time again...

That is interesting...Isn't Owatonna ranked like 6th or 9th?. Quite an accomplishment. To me it shows how much ahead of Wisconsin High Schools Minnesota actually is.

The number 1 ranked team in AA in MN last year was nationally ranked and slaughtered Owatonna...I guess Wisconsin isn't as far ahead as you thought....

STMA is really really good though. I wrestled in their section when I was in HS, and they ALWAYS qualified everyone to state, every year.

So would it be fair to say that Minnesota's AA teams are better than Wisconsin's?

Well, Wisconsin doesn't do the "A, AA, AAA" thing like we do here. They do it like colleges, Division 1, Division 2...

I think that at the top of the classes (the best teams), are ahead of Wisconsin's top teams. However, I would say on the whole. it is really hard to compate collectively. I would say the average Minnesota teams are about on par with Wisconsin's average teams, but Minnesota's top teams are ahead of Wisconsin's top teams. Get what I mean?

Ok so basically a D2 team in Wisconsin can't really compete with at D1 team the same way a AA could compete with a AAA?

That isn't what I am saying. It all depends on the team. But the D1 vs. D2 is the same as AAA vs. AA in Minnesota. I am sure that there are a lot of D2 schools that could beat D1 schools there.

What I was saying is that with the top level AAA teams vs. the top level D1 teams, Minnesota woukld have the edge, the same could be said of the top D2 teams vs. the top AA teams.

Sorry if I didn't make it clear, but I tried to say that the average D1 teams, and the average AAA teams are probably on the same level, athleticly. Which leads to the conclusion that Minnesota isn't head and shoulders above Wisconsion in wrestling en masse.

O ok. That's what I thought at first but the comment by Berean is the reason I said that. He said Wisconsin is so far a head of Minnesota.
