Has a horrible penetration step on his high-C and cuts off a little too high at the double. Takes shots from too far away.

Common thing I see with both High School and College wrestlers.

I see it as a common mistake kids make. His knee is hitting the mat like a good foot and a half away from his partner's feet when it should be more like 6 inches at most. It simply cuts down on the explosion and hip position and increases his partner's reaction time and allows him to cut the corner or wiggle his hips free. In short there can be more power from a push pull position than attacking outside like that. And if he's gonna attack outside like that he'd better be closer to his opponent and get his hips in tighter. The kid looks strong so it probably works for him but in he event he goes against someone just as strong with good defense, he's not finishing that shot.
