Owatonna has meets every year in Iowa and Wisc. Also this year Owatonna is traveling to Florida for a meet, which I'm guessing is one of the reasons they wont be at The Clash.

Lets be honest, they don't want to be at the Clash. Any team that is legit and could be invited to an elite tournament wants to go, if they can. They will probably split the team into 3 Varsity's and go to crappy tournaments to get the coach 12 wins for his overblown record.

Ok I was just saying Minnesota teams can wrestle outside of the state. There was no need for you to go bash them. One of the reasons they do well is because they do split the team up like that. It gets young guys good experience they wouldnt normally get. If it wasn't for the coach doing that I wouldn't have wrestled at all. No matter how many wins they have if they don't beat the quailty teams they aren't any good but 2 years ago when they went 60-1 they did win a state title and were ranked as high as 5th in the nation by a pole. They beat Apple Valley 4 straight times so they at least have a decent program whether you like the way Scot Davis runs it not.

Owatonna came to the Eds gym a couple of years back. That's not exactly avoiding competition.

Hey MNFan was that Pole Lech Walesa, the former Polish President? I wasn't aware he did national wrestling polls in the US. (Had to raze you on that one.)
I was at St Edward when they wrestled Owatonna. I think they should have saved the airfare. Totally out of their league. Apple Valley was very competitive in 2000. How many times has Owatonna and Valley wrestled alltime and what is the record?

Gee, 4 times added to the 2 other times in 30 years, WOW 6 wins. If AV never left Region (Section) 1, Owatonna would have made state once since 1980.

Damn guys what is this? The bash Owatonna thread? You are making it seem like I think they are the greatest team in the history of high school wrestling. I said they have a decent program...I mean if they can make 3 varsity teams, all of which can win matches, they are at least decent. Maybe they should have saved the airfare instead of going to St Edward BUT they DID go to St Edward. If they were trying to avoid compitition why would they go there and do the Clash? Maybe they were out of their league but they did get a chance to see where they were at. A few years back back they had a good team and faced some good compitition. I know they aren't real great this year and i am kinda pissed about them not being in the Clash because i would rather see them get spanked by a good team then beat up worthless teams. I think Davis does a damn good job for what he has. Every year AV has a loaded line up if you look at state rankings and final standings and Owatonna hardly has anyone. Go back and look at their roster in 2005 when they were ranked as high as 5th in the nation and won the state title. I bet AV had more state place winners and state champs.
