Steve, this is wrestling talk unless I am missing something? Unlike on BT, I am allowed to question the ole great Bob P on here. I am not bashing him personally, just asking a question. He did say that if the IM winner runs the table, they would likely end up #1 and I just can't see that being right. Too much actual wrestling that goes on AFTER IM. Bob just tends to forget that. Just because a team not at IM is not ranked #1 pre season by AWN(Bob)does not mean that they can't be #1. Agreed?

I appreciate the sentiment in regards to how things went over there, but honestly, I would not be able to be a yes man and if you are not one, you won't survive over there. All is good and there are plenty of very good forums like this to talk about our great sport.

Agreed. 1A and 1B. Different strokes for different folks. My thing is that you never see Adrian or Renos director constantly patting themselves on the back. They let the wrestling speak for itself and if Bob did that, IM's wrestling would do that.

I bet he would agree with aspects of that. He has said as much.

Still some pretty well known, high profile, folks like and respect him, despite his getting caustic or abrasive with some on the internet. He does his thing. He doesn't need me to defend him.

He is knowledgable and loves wrestling and runs one HELL of a tournament.

LIKELY is the key word. That has been the recent history of the event. Why should it be a surprise if it happens again?

Absolutely! As I say above I could see AWN ranking Apple Valley top (even if you can't imagine it--LOL).

Simple way to earn some love, make sure you have Ironman or the Beast on your schedule each year, that'll help.

Apple Valley can't travel to either (as far as I know.) according to state HS league rules. I personally don't see them as a National Champion this year anyway, so the point is moot. I'll be very suprised if they even go undefeated, its only happened like 3 times ever.

Going undefeated anywhere is hard, but in states like MN, PA, Nj or CA that is an even harder thing to do!

I have to remember that the above is "easy for me to say". My recommendations are dispensible.

I think I'm going to undertake the task of tabulating the record of each state in the history of the Dapper Dan. I'll let you know how Delaware comes out.

Sounds good. Not even sure how many DD guys that we have had. It was not until recently that we have had so many nationally ranked guys.

Its all about match-ups and strategy. Look at National Duals last year. I think the two best TEAMS (Missouri and Minny) faced in the finals which was great but don't tell me that that tournament couldn't have gone differently if both teams had to take different routes to get there.

I also agree that teams will peak at different times. AV has Devos win a state title at the end of the season but Devos was certainly not that wrestler at the beginning of season. He really improved as the season went on.

I am not sure its even necessary to have an "official" best highschool wrestling program.
