Thread: Our teams wrestling pilgrimage

    Default Our teams wrestling pilgrimage

Wish I didn't have to re-type all of this but that bastards at The Mat deleted it and I need to get my contacts going asap.

Anyways, I'm putting together a wrestling pilgrimage of sorts for my team. We are going to travel from Eastern OR to the Dan Gable Museum and back in June, after we get out of school.

We are trying to bring a group of 10 of our more experienced kids and kids on the verge of getting good.

Two soon to be 7th graders, one is my son who is a jr high state qualifier and went 1-2 there. He is about 75lbs. The other kid is a friend of his who is getting pretty good and about 90lbs. He went 2-2 at our jr high state qualifier and is a tough kid.

3-4 others will be incoming freshman, 3 of which were all jr high state placers(2nd 105, 5th 136, 6th 122) and a small HWT(215) who was also a jr high state qualifier.

The remaining kids will be a few solid HS wrestlers in the 119-160lb range. A couple of which were HS state qualifiers.

We aren't entirely wolrd beaters, but we are decent and know how to wrestle.

We are looking to wrestle or workout with different teams from various areas and possibly sleep on your mats if at all possible. We'll wrestle any style and wrestle up weights if needed to get a good workout in. We'll also be bringing shirts to trade with kids if wanted.

Here is what our trip is looking like:

    EO to Boise or Pocatello
    Boise/Pocatello to Cheyenne, WY
    Cheyenne to Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs to kansas city, KS/MO
    Kansas City to Lincoln NE
    Lincoln to Waterloo, IA

Then back home through Minny to Mt Rushmore, the Montana on home. Could change if needed.

I've been in touch with Eric Akin's club and will most likely be heading there and are hoping to visist the OTC, but in light of recent events, I don't know if we're going to want to go there. We are hoping to meet Henry Cejudo as majority of my team are Hispanic. If you have any contacts in those areas I mentioned or have a club/team of your own you'd like to wrestle us against, feel free to contact me asap at hans_130@yahoo.com

I'm in Colfax WA (just south of Spokane by Pullman) We might be on your return trip if you do come through here I can get a couple of different clubs to show up. Let me know I'm thinking of doing this exact same thing next summer. Where in Eastern OR are you at? I spent some time in the La Grande/Union/North Powder area and my wife is from Grass Valley.

We are in Boardman. If you frequent the WA Message Board, you'll know me at rrockwell there.

That may be a plan to stop there on the way home. IDK. Kids may just want to go straight home being that close. We're going to meet with the kids next week when we get back from spring break and kind of lay it out for them. If they choose to do othewise, maybe you guys can make your way down south and we can set something up at our place.

I wouldn't be opposed to that. We are planning on hitting the OSU camp in Corvallis this year. We might try and stop by this summer.

If we come down to OR will you have anyone in the 189-215 range? I've got a Freshman that was fairly soft this year but improved a lot technically and an incoming freshman that has potential as well that I might try and bring down with me.

I have a kid in the 171lb range who would work with him if needed. Kind of small, but knows how to wrestle. Might be able to get a bigger kid as well who is a incoming freshman.

Here is our returning lineup from this year.
    103
    112
119 Decent on the verge of becoming good He missed state by one close match
    130
140 (should have been 130 or 135) Same as my 119 pounder
145 (should have been 140) he a freshman that has great potential. Good strength but not a lot of raw talent.
    171
    189/215
We'll have a couple of Freshman coming in. One will be in the 189 pound range and is decent. The rest are in the middle of the lineup.

That's about where we are decent so we could have some good workout partners for you.
