Re: Taylor/Grajales in the room..
Grajales was ranked in two different weight classes on the senior level of Greco after his junior year, and that was mid growth spurt, when he became too big for 121, but not big enough for 132. he just hasn't competed aat Senior level events this year.
Re: Taylor/Grajales in the room..
This is the way i see it and I will explain afterwards;
1st period: Granjales begins the match by pushing Taylor around a little. He gets the takedown then cuts him. (2-1) The two go back and forth until Granjales takes Taylor down again and cuts him. (4-2) The period ends as Granjales is attempting to finish a takedown.
2nd Period: Granjales is beginning to look winded. He chooses bottom and is riden for a full minute until cut. Still 4-2 Granjales. Granjales gets one more takedown and cuts Taylor to end the period. 6-3 Granjales.
3rd Period: Taylor starts the period by getting his first takedown on Granjales. He rides him momentarily then cuts him after realizing he needs more points. (7-5 Granjales) Taylor once again takes down the exhausted Granjales and rides him out to end regulation tied at 7.
Overtime: Granjales is absolutely winded. He's is able to keep the match vertical until Taylor shoots in and Granjales doesn't have the stamina to defend it.
Now, I believe that Granjales is stronger, probably faster, and has mastered more moves. However, if you watch the two wrestle, Granjales always begins to look winded deep into the 2nd period and dead tired by the end of the match. I think Granjales might be able to pull it out, but his stamina is nothing compared to Taylor.
Re: Taylor/Grajales in the room..
Sorry, I didn't make it clear that I didn't expect them to wrestle (because of the weight class difference). My post was on the order of addressing Taylor's wrestler-of-the-year award. Could have gone to Stieber if he hadn't been injured for the Ironman, plus I'm not sure if that is seniors only.
In short, I thought of Logan Stieber as the best high school wrestler in the nation irrespective of weight class, this past season. But, then again, he took it on the chin against Ramos, proving that every single one of these top flight wrestlers is human. Every one of them.
Re: Taylor/Grajales in the room..
Stieber as the best wrestler amongst all weight classes? If it didn't go to Taylor, Granjales and Perry weren't far behind. Look at Chris Perry's match scores for the past 5 years. He hasn't even had a close match whether it was the finals, semis, etc. The only close match he has is when he beat the guy from Penn State 2-1.
Re: Taylor/Grajales in the room..
No question that Perry is in the conversation for that top spot.
I have felt that Stieber is better than Taylor ever since watching Taylor win the Ironman as a freshman over Stieber, fresh off football. I thought Stieber would win a rematch, but they never wrestled after that.
They are all great wrestlers. Stieber should be in this year's Ironman and should get some high ranking competition.
Re: Taylor/Grajales in the room..
i dont think that Steiber would have beat Taylor in a rematch. It'd be nice to see it in the ncaa tournament goes. and besides, cody gardner is still the best we've seen in years
Re: Taylor/Grajales in the room..
Bump because I got a kick out of reading this, after all of the Taylor vs. Dake talk.

Re: Taylor/Grajales in the room..
Ha Ha! Did you all read Badcat's switcheroo once he found out Taylor may be going to PSU? Good stuff.
