Thread: Statisticall speaking, how well should I be next year/years to come?

Default Statisticall speaking, how well should I be next year/years to come?

Yeah, so I'm a freshman now (152),and I've been wrestling since sixth grade. My records throughout the years (regular season) are the following:

    6th grade: 8-4 (jv)
    7th grade: 14-4 (starting jv)
8th grade: 31-8 (var, state qual)
    9th grade: 23-6 (starting jv)

So, obviously you can't tell how well you will be in the future, but off the record, looking at those statistics, how well do you think I will be my sophomore-senior year? FYI, I'm able to beat our 140,145,152,160,215,HVY varsity guys, but unfortunately i can only beat my varsity guy about 1 in every 8 matches.

    10th grade 25-5 V State Place-Winner
    11th grade 29-3 V State Champ
    12th grade 34-0 V State Champ

I would never set a "record goal" because it will make you do two things:

Expect to lose X times throughout the season.
    Protect your record.

Wrestling "not to lose" is probably the best way to get beat.. this mantra gets overused, but you should expect your next three seasons to all end perfect. If you fall short of that, I bet you're a better wrestler and have a better record than the one I put above.

    You should set goals for:

Points scored in a match, each period.
    Takedowns, nearfalls, pins
Time spent on the mat each match. (Tech/Pin guy in X:XX if applicable)

Seeing as you're from IL, what high school do you wrestle for? (just curious)

I can't think of any Illinois schools that start high school in sixth grade, unless you're at like a Class A private school or something?

i dont understand what you mean?like, highschool technically doesnt start until 9th grade...i went from elementary school>middle school (6th 7th 8th grade)>highschool (freshmen(9th).....)and my highschool is normal community, and this year we started at 3a,but we're one of the smallest 3a schools

If you can beat all those guys heavier than you, why don't you bump up and wrestle at 140?

I thought you were wrestling high school because you said JV, didn't realize there was JV/Varsity in IKWF.

I wrestle for S. Elgin in 3A, what school are you from?
