The District tournament is in exactly 4 weeks and two days. My conditioning isn't where it should be and my record this season has been pretty bad. Thing is, I know I'm good enough to make it at least to the Regional tournament. My technique is good and I wrestle as good as anyone as long as I don't get into bad position in my hips. I'm working on my conditioning and I'll have a gas tank by districts.
My only problem is my confidence. I wrestle in the 215 weight class and, as some of might know, you see a lot of different types of people in the weight. Some looked jacked as hell and some don't look that athletic--in both cases I get psyched out and forget that technique beats strength almost all the time. But it's intimidating when you look across the mat and see a guy that looks like a bus. I end up losing the match before it starts.
What can I do to get rid of this confidence issue before the district tournament? Also, what can I do in general before district to make sure that I'm where I need to be? I have 3 tournaments left before district where I can use whatever you guys come up with.
I'm going to give you advice they gave me (im going for district finals tomorrow), wrestle each match as if it's your last, if you don't, it may be. Wrestle and Relax.
