Thread: couple of questions

  1. #1

    Default couple of questions

Im fairly new to wrestling but i've been part of the MMA / JiuJitsu game for a while..

    1. From the Michigan (hand behind back) I only know one pin, and its very hard to describe, what else can i do from here.. And from the crab ride, i know how to get into a armbar, and shoot the half.. Anything else..

    2. And is there any decent takedown defense drills.. And any good balance drills i could do.
Only takedown defense drills i know, are simple one, opponent shoots you sprawl, and opponent taps a leg, you sprawl to that hip..

    3. Descirbe a pin from anywhere, that would open some eyes.. (Pretty random questiong, but just wondering on this one)

    4. What are some techniques on versing a wrestler that is alot stronger then you, anything?

I know thats sorta alot to ask, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Okay, I'll offer what I can:

The best balance drill that I know is spinning - if you do it right. Keep your sternum between the down man's shoulder blades and try to spin at least 90 degrees or more with each push off. 180 degrees (a semicircle) is even better. If you keep your hands behind your back, you will improve your balance even more. Go as hard as you can for at least 30 seconds, or up to a minute if you are in better shape, and do several sets.

A spladle is an impressive looking pin. A 3/4 nelson is another one, but the thing that impresses the crowd the most is getting your hand raised, and that's what you should be concerned about.

I wrestled in high school and college for six years and always had a winning record, but in all but maybe three or four of my matches, my opponent was stronger than me. Technique and conditioning will always beat a stronger opponent.
