Thumbs Up! Help... I lost my varsity 152 spot

The title speaks for itself. I know I'm better tha the kid I lost to the other day, so what do I do? He's really by the book, so are there any moves he won't see coming?

It sounds like you are saying he is not flashy but has good basic skills - and you are looking for a big move to catch him. My advice is go back to basics and focus on high percentage technique. Taking the short cut isn't going to get you anywhere. Learn a basic series or two in each position, then learn the counters, then the counters to the counters. Drill them until nobody knows them better than you do. That way you will win more matches when you earn back the varsity spot.

Cradle is right--you won't hold your spot if you are relying on a single big move. Be aggressive and beat him straight up. Condition yourself so he can't hang with you in the 3rd.

yeah its not that I dont have the basic skills down and that im looking for a short cut. I have the basics and I'm just looking for some advanced stuff that he won't know.

You aren't going to get the secret to winning this match by posting on a message board.

Get yourself in better cardio shape than he is, and just do the moves you're good at.

Definitely what JensenS said. He's in there with you everyday, study him. Learn how to counter his moves then work on perfecting yours. Focus on your conditioning too, if all else fails...wear him out!

The best wrestlers in the world for the most part win because they've gotten very, very, very good at "the basics."

I say again, you aren't going to get some secret move to allow you to beat this kid by posting on this message board.
