    Default How to get better in offseason if you have no access to club wrestling?

    My intentions this offseason is to lift all the time (Im an avid lifter,so this is no problem) and to get as many tournaments as possible (those dont start for a few weeks,though). And I'm probably going back to J Rob 28 Day this summer. How do I keep up with technique so I don't get worse, but better, during a majority of the upcoming months, where I won't have a mat?

    You can drill a lot of the stuff alone - it's called "shadow wrestling". Pretend you have an opponent and practice the moves as if he were standing there.

    Look around on the internet and maybe your state's wrestling forum for open tournaments you can enter on weekends. I don't live in a huge wrestling state and I can still find one about every weekend that isn't more than two hours drive away.

    Also you could consider getting your own small bit of mat (assuming no monetary problems) and calling up some partners to work out with. What I did last offseason was have four guys I'd call, Monday-Thursday, so that each of them would only have to work out once per week but I'd get in four good workouts a week. Worked well.

    large colleges/universities have camps that you can attend as well

    Also - have you asked a team mate or a friend near by (who doesnt even have to wrestle - just have an interest in MMA) to come over and drill in the living room.

    My friends and I used to drill in each others back yards during the summer. With the heat, the ground is pretty soft so you probably don't need to worry about getting hurt. That is, of course, if you have friends who live near you and at least one of them has a yard.
