Thumbs Up! I have lost a significant amount of strength since the season started

I remember right before the season i maxed bench 225 and can do a maximum of 56 pushups. now that the season started, I've noticed my strength decreasing. Just yesterday, we had a pushup competition in gym class and i can only bust out 35! Im afraid to find out what my max bench is now. I've been performing bad all other exercises also. I dont do as much pullups, chinups, and dips as before. I havent been as strong as i was in the first couple days of the season. Can this all be because of my attmept ot cut weight? I have been getting leaner though. any supplements i can take to maintain my strength?

If you starve yourself, you could start to metabolize muscle, but I doubt this is the case. Are you eating a balanced diet? Getting enough sleep? If you have a tough practice and do some lifting, especially early in the season, your body might not recover by the next day. I wouldn't be too concerned unless you constanly feel tired and your workouts become harder to get through.

You might be overtraining. Maybe not getting enough rest? What does a regular week look like for you(in training and workout terms)?

How much weight did you lose and how long did it take you to lose it?

Are you dehydrating? That will absolutely kill strength, reaction time, and mental acuity.

I really doubt that i am "overtraining" because after practice, im usually too tired to do anything else besides jump rope and maybe some calistenics. maybe im just overreacting. i mean, i didnt touch weights ever since the season started so lower numbers and repitions in weights must be inevitable. and ive cut a total of 6 lbs in a little over 2 weeks.

6 lbs isn't a lot of weight unless you lost it via the dehydration route. If you are keeping the weight off by keeping your body dehydrated you will definitely feel tired. You need to make sure you are well hydrated, especially before your routine practices.

If you stop lifting you will lose strength. There is no reason to stop lifting during the season. During the season you will want to maintain your strength and out of season is the time to get stronger.

Tell me about it, this morning, I woke up and I shit a squirrel, but what I can't get is the damn thing is still alive. So now, I've got a shit covered squirrel running around my office and I don't know what to name it.
