A good way to improve is not to learn new moves but understand mat stratagies and stratagies to beat specific tough opponents. 1st get a small note book and when your tough opponents wrestle take notes i.e what they did that worked for them and what worked against them. if over the season you can take notes and find out things like he got taken down 4 times from a arm drag to a double. So when you wrestle him you are looking for the drag double. Next he scored on a low single to the right side 10 times when you wrestle him you go with a left leg lead and never give him the opportunity to use his best move. This is a 4 point swing and should win you a few extra matches each year.
As far a good move the hardest move for me to defend was a left knee double when done well.

Learn the spladle, not even the great Brent Metcalf can stop that technique. Plus being in Colorado, those kids wont know what hit them. Good luck!

Lets go Brent!

What's The Spadle? I've heard of it but never seen it before

don't listen to them about the spladle, its a low percentage moves that can sometimes catch decent guys and very very very rarely catch good guys. if you want to qualify for state the guys who are that good will never get caught in a spladle. stick to basic moves and master them, have at least one consistent takedown for each side, good shot defense, good turns and get up when youre on bottom. Be sure to have a desperation move like a throw (or a spladle) for situations when you're down alot with short time, but whenever you watch the best guys they always hae a handful of basic moves they do perfectly
